What's In A Word?

A word can be a powerful tool. It helps you focus and concentrate. A word can add meaning to your life and your vocabulary. In 2018 I adopted the “word of the year” concept. This will be my third year focusing on a one-word instead of creating New Year’s Resolutions. Focusing on one word is simple and doable. This sole focus also helps you go after what it is you might be searching for.

Let’s try it together!

My WORD for 2020 is “SEEK”. I choose a word for the year based on what I am trying to accomplish. For me, this year I want to “seek” the Lord more, “seek” people who want to collaborate with me, “seek” more opportunities to spend time with my boys.

For me, seeking means to go after what you want. When you are seeking something, you are looking for something you cannot see. I don’t know what my opportunities are for this year, but I am going to look for them.

Some I might have to create myself because we can’t just sit and wait for an opportunity to hit us in the face!

I know that what I am looking for exists. However, it’s up to me to do the work to find it. Don’t misunderstand… search means you don’t know where something is; seek means you don’t have it yet but know it is there.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”. Matthew 6:33.

A simple word just might hold the key to your success this year. We all get to “start from scratch”. I hope whatever it is you are seeking comes to you this new year. Stop searching and start focusing on your one word.

What is tugging at you? At what are you attempting to be better? Kindness? Positivity? Strength? Let’s stay in touch so we can empower one another to stay true to our words this year. I want you to succeed because together we are stronger. One word at a time eventually forms a sentence. Your story is waiting to be written. Choose your word wisely.
