Celebrating Your Own Successes

When I started my 2019 “starting from scratch” journey, I was a bit intimidated. I didn’t know what to expect in 2019. I had a tiny team with big hearts who were passionate about what I thought I wanted to do and shared my vision. Last year I met more people in one year than I had in the last 5 combined. I put myself out there with networking, weekly social media live shows and a podcast. I practiced what I was telling people – aka do not let your age, or your circumstances, define you. I second-guessed myself a lot, I had to talk myself into going to networking events alone and along the way, I always looked for the positive and tried to meet someone new; knowing we all have a story and I was eager to hear theirs.

I love the book I wrote (Starting From Scratch found on Amazon and Barnes & Noble) for so many reasons. I prayed it would reach as many as would need it. I knew in my heart my passion was to inspire people to “start from scratch” every day because every day is a new day to start over and build the life you have wanted.

Toward the end of the year, I decided I wanted to celebrate what we had done. As a way of saying “thank you” to my Thursday guests, I hosted a real “Ladies Who Lunch” at Legion Brewing a few weeks ago. The term “floating on air” came true that day. My heart was so happy. Many attended. Many wanted to but in true “ladies who lunch” fashion, work and life got in the way. But the ones who could and needed to be there came ate and met one another.

And then a wonderful thing happened.

There were 3 guests who at the last minute could not attend. My event was on Eventbrite and the public could view it. There was one random guest who registered, and we left that as she might come she might not.

She came!

Then, two more unexpected women arrived saying they had heard my podcast and about my company (Henderson Properties) and wanted to see what this “Ladies Who Lunch” was all about!

Three cancellations but God sent three in their place. Amazing!

The women who came unannounced offered to leave but if you know me that was not an option! The more the merrier and for whatever reason they needed to be there. I found my seat at the table that day. In chapter 5 of Starting From Scratch I talk about that very thing. Sometimes your seat moves because of situations out of your control, seasons of life or other circumstances.

That day my purpose met my vision and it was a beautiful thing.

My advice to you this year? Keep your heart open to new experiences and when you are asked to do something out of the ordinary say “YES” because you never know how your presence may impact someone else. I wish for you a year filled with community and chances to celebrate who you are and what you are doing. When the desires of your heart are fulfilled there is no turning back.
